Formally organized on January 28, 1848, the County of Webb will soon reach its 140th anniversary. To commemorate the county's inception, Commission Vice-Chairwoman Rose Trevino will head a committee to plan the celebration. Since the county was named for Judge James A.

Fairgrounds
The fairgrounds complex has been in use for over 55 years, with the non-profit Laredo International Fair and Exposition (LIFE) organization holding an annual fair and livestock show in the winter. The grounds have also hosted rodeos, concerts, festivals, cook-offs, and fireworks shows.
1848
Event Center
The Webb County Fairgrounds was rebranded as the 1848 Event Center to attract a broader market. The county allocated at least $25,000 to advertise the rebranding, including polo shirts and other advertisements around the city.
Master
Plan
In 2018, Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina and the Commissioners Court held a public workshop to discuss the need for a new fairgrounds facility. The workshop was the first step in a master plan process to consider all possible uses for the fairgrounds.
